Leave No Trace...
Being the Roadbum that I am ~ I take great pride in nature. Tone & I love being outdoors and spend every waking moment we can there. There’s seldom a time that we don’t end up at one point or another rescuing some form of wildlife from the road or otherwise. Then there are the many instances we find ourselves picking up the unfortunate and disheartening trace(s) that someone has decided to leave behind. We take this personal.
When I was working on the creation of a Mission Statement for RoadbumGear I found it to be quite challenging. Wanting our purpose to be well-defined while simultaneously “condensing” everything that makes our little venture unique into a couple sentences at times seemed impossible! At last, I made the executive decision: “We want to inspire and spark the spontaneity, wonder and social interaction that IS quintessential 'roadbummin.' All while maintaining a healthy lifestyle and doing our very best to leave every place we’ve been a little better in some way.”
I believe that "MS" encompasses us.
The Leave No Trace organization has been around for nearly 30 years. I regularly follow this group because I find such harmony in THEIR Mission Statement and Principles. I took the following from their website as a brief overview for your perusal and provided links so that you may delve deeper if you so wish. If you feel a connection, please consider following them as well. I hope to get more involved with these guys "down the road." Hopefully, you will too!
“The Leave No Trace organization is built upon the belief that if people do something, even something simple, to help take care of the outdoors that they cherish, we will all benefit as does the outdoors. Leave No Trace is a universal philosophy that can be part of any outdoor experience. The very nature of Leave No Trace lends itself well to fostering a cooperative spirit of stewardship.”
“The organization accomplishes its mission by providing innovative education, skills, research and science to help people care for the outdoors. By working with the public and those managing public lands, Leave No Trace focuses on educating people—instead of costly restoration programs or access restrictions—as the most effective and least resource-intensive solution to land protection.”
