Florida Research Roadtrip

So, I have been having a bout of writers block lately ~ thank goodness for our most recent Roadtrip.
The purpose of this journey was to consider and/or eliminate areas of Florida that the big guy and I are contemplating relocating to in the near future. We started off with a list of at least 20 towns and in the end came home with 3 great contenders.

Due to the limited amount of time we had for this "project," coupled with the massive area we had to cover, our research was very,,, how can I say, "passerby-drive thru-get out and walk around-get a feel and hit the road again!"  Which is pretty much what we anticipated having to do. However, this made the choice's for elimination much easier because we both knew instantaneously whether the town we were in "hit the mark" or not!  Because we couldn't do extensive research I will include links to the top three so that you can peruse if you wish.

So let's start with #1 Dunedin:  This town became #1 instantly!  Next door neighbors with Clearwater and right on the Gulf, this little gem is perfect for anyone looking for a small town just overflowing with charm.  Shops, restaurants and bars are plentiful and within walking distance of each other.  There is a beautiful biking/walking path that passes right through the downtown area.  And talk about dog friendly?  It's also known as "Dogedin" for good reason.  I've never been anywhere that embraces Fido like this place!

Tarpon Springs got a strong #2:  A lil' north of Dunedin and on the Gulf as well... Unfortunately, wasn't able to spend much time here.  A return trip is most definitely on the books.  Just an absolutely beautiful downtown area brimming with things to do.  Gorgeous place for being outdoors and what looks to be a "foodie's dream!"  Can't wait to return and spend more quality time in this town.  I think it has a lot to offer!  And if your in need of a sponge?  THIS is your place!  Click on SPONGE for some fun facts...

Easy #3 is Mount Dora:  Located inland and about an hour north of Orlando.  So, it's not located on the Gulf which was why it came in at #3.  However, I got the immediate feel of "California" in this groovy little place!  Again, the historical downtown district is easily walkable and the choices of shops, restaurants and bars are just short of copious.  Surrounded by a myriad of other lakes I believe it would be very difficult to get bored in this place!

What will the future hold for Toots & The Marine....?
