Back to the BASICS and a new Parris Island Grad!

Congratulations RJ on becoming a proudly crowned “Jarhead,” Devil Dog,” MARINE!!!

This most recent roadtrip was truly an incredible experience.  Tone got to reminisce (again!) but this time around we got to witness our dear friend’s son graduate from Parris Island Marine Corps Boot Camp.  What a ceremony!  Seriously… it was something to see.  During the graduation ceremony anyone who served in the Corps was asked to stand and be recognized which was a very emotional moment for me.  I was able to capture it on video and the pride on Tony’s face will forever be etched in my mind.  We spent 2 whole days on base with pretty much free run of the entire island ~ with some exceptions of course.  We were even able to visit the barracks this time around.  Tone was dumbfounded at how much things have changed since he graduated so many moons ago…

These young recruits who make it through the training and the legendary “Crucible” https://www.mcrdpi.marines.mil/Recruit-Training/Crucible/ are so deserving of our respect and admiration.  We should all be SO proud of them, as well as, the DI’s who dedicate so much time, blood, sweat and probably one tear (?).

Port Royal and Beaufort, SC are both serious contenders in our relocation dream.  This trip solidified that!
